3 reasons to book a tour with Omaha Culinary Tours
Editor’s Note: Piccolo’s is closed. But, the food truck is active.
We’ve been on several tours with Omaha Culinary Tours. At first, I thought, OK, check out some restaurants that we haven’t been to before and have some food. Well, an experience with Omaha Culinary Tours is much more than that.
Learn Omaha History
Omaha Culinary Tour has tours that cover most of the city of Omaha. One tour may take you past one of Warren Buffett’s offices and introduce you to an Omaha original – the Reuben sandwich.
Another tour may take you to where a few scenes from a movie were filmed and to a couple of Buffet’s favorite steakhouses.
There is also history told along the way of some of the buildings and characters that have turned Omaha into what it is today. This is told by the tour guides, as well as the passionate owners and chefs of the restaurants that are on the various tours.
Have a Great Time with Friends and Family
Going on a tour with Omaha Culinary Tours is a great option for a date or getting family or friends together for a fun experience. It’s an event you don’t have to get a meal afterwards as you will not go away hungry.
I recently connected with a few North Iowa bloggers to go on her first Omaha Classic Steakhouse tour. Tim went on the same tour months earlier with our daughters. We both agreed that it’s great to share the experience to indulge and compare our favorites with friends or family while on the tour.
We’ve met new friends while on the Omaha Culinary Tours. We are still friends with someone we met on our very first tour, the Midtown Walking Tour.
We had a feeling once we introduced my Aunt Vicki and Uncle Bryan to one of Omaha Culinary Tours they would want to go on another. We were right. They are asking when we are interested in going on the next one.
Check out Omaha’s growing culinary scene
Omaha has culinary delights that span from the south in Little Italy for steak to the north in Benson for a slice of pizza to west Omaha for a little cotton candy for dessert.
While the Slice of Pizza Tour may take you from the northern neighborhood of Benson to a destination for Neapolitan-style pizza in West Omaha.
One restaurant on the steakhouse tour – Piccolo’s – has jumped into one of the growing food trends in Omaha. They’ve launched their own food truck, named Anthony Piccolo’s Mobile Venue. Let’s just say that I’ve hunted it down to get one of their Prime Dip sandwiches with tator tots. It’s that good. Make sure you dip the tator tots in the au jus.
While you may think since we’ve lived in Omaha for a long time, why haven’t we tried most of the restaurants on these tours already? We would not blame you for thinking that. We’ve been on four of them personally (our daughters went on the chocolate and pastry bus tour, but we have’nt been yet). However, on each one of them we have found that there are at least 2-3 restaurants that we had not been to before.
So, whether you’re visiting Omaha for the first time or have lived here for awhile, check out trying new dining experiences in one shot and learn some local history with Omaha Culinary Tours.
