Fit by 40 – Tell someone your goals and get support
Here it is….week 4. We are already at the end of January. Where does the time go?
This week I wore my pedometer faithfully everyday. That was probably the biggest achievement actually. The second was that 4 out of the 5 work days, I walked on the treadmill over lunch. It is a start in the right direction.
My biggest walking day was Saturday when we also went on a food tour in Midtown Omaha. So, it was partly healthy. The walk was, the food not as much. But it sure was good.
Here are my daily step counts for the week:
- Friday – 5104
- Saturday – 15,675
- Sunday – 2794
- Monday – 7015
- Tuesday – 3674
- Wednesday – 3813
- Thursday – 4945
Not great days overall. My goal is to step it up and meet my goal for the past week which was to average 7000 steps a day. I know I can do this. This last week it was an average of 6145.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you that have commented on these Fit by 40 posts already. In addition, I would like to take time to thank some other people that have shown outgoing support of this journey.
The first to my co-worker Cathy. When I told her that I was going to make this the year that I get fit before I hit that big 40, she gave me encouragement. In fact, the next time after I saw her after my birthday at work, she had a gift for me. She surprised me with all kinds of healthy snacks – snack size bags of almonds, fruit strips, a big bag of dark chocolate covered raspberries. She has continued to ask me how it’s going and how if I’ve walked today. It’s appreciated. It helps to keep it front of mind. Thanks Cathy!
The other person I have to thank is my husband. A couple of weeks ago I did not write a post for this series. I almost decided to not continue it at all. He’s got a series that he’s doing of his own on this blog. It’s part of a walking challenge that he accepted from our daughter Mallory. He’s going to walk the equivalent over the next year from Los Angeles, CA to Portland, ME. He has done amazing so far working out nearly daily and walking right at nearly 7 miles a day. I am impressed by his determination to meet his goal. He also has encouraged me to continue doing this series. He congratulated me on getting my new pedometer and we love to walk together. We park farther away from the door when going to places. When we go to the store we always take at least a lap around before we get what we came for. It all adds up. Thanks to my husband for being a great source of support.
Who have you told your goals to? Who is your support system?
