Lincoln’s Nitroburger ignites appetite
Lisa has an infatuation with food trucks.
This has grown to the point where we have to research possible food truck destinations on trips.
During a recent trip to Lincoln, she found a unique food truck – Nitroburger. What’s so unique about a food truck in the state’s capital?
Nitroburger is a food truck in a bus. Whaaa??!! Mind blown, right? And it’s red!
Ok, maybe it’s not that mind blowing, but still…
It was a neat experience. You can order your food to go from the outside window. Or, if you want to dine in, they have four small tables to sit at. Dining in can be ordered from inside the bus.
We were hoping to dine in, so we placed our order for a couple of burgers. We split an order of sweet potato fries.
The truck was busy. The four tables were occupied. We almost gave up after waiting several minutes and thought we’d take our food to go and sit at a nearby picnic table.
But, we lucked out. A group of four classic car enthusiasts finished their lunch and visit, and headed out to their cars in the parking lot.
As a side note, the cars were cool – a Ford Thunderbird, a Chevy pickup and a Cadillac were parked as though on display. I did check them out while we waited for lunch. Very nice!
Back to the food truck, err, bus, err mobile restaurant…
Our burgers were done.
I had a Buffalo Bill Bacon Cheeseburger. It included a ½ pound of burger with cheddar cheese, hickory smoked bacon, sautéed onions and a molasses BBQ sauce. All burgers are served on freshly baked Kaiser rolls.
Lisa ordered a Mozzarella Mushroom Meltaway. It consisted of the ½ pound burger topped with melted mozzarella cheese, sautéed garlic and mushrooms, cream cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.
The sweet potato fries were grilled just right – they were soft and chewy, with a fantastic seasoning.
We topped it off with dessert – a milkshake. But, not just any milkshake. We went “exotic” and ordered a maple bacon and waffle shake. It had pieces of waffle and bacon mixed with the ice cream. You’d think it wouldn’t work together, but it does.
After enjoying a super filling and tasty lunch, we were back on the streets of Lincoln, hoping to work off some of the lunch with more sightseeing.
I recommend trying out food trucks (Lisa is NOT forcing me to say this). If traveling to Lincoln, check out Nitroburger’s Facebook page and website for their locations. Give ‘em a try and I guarantee you’ll like the food.
