Morning view at the lake

I spent an hour at Carter Lake. The lake- as is the town with which it shares its name – is on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River, but is part of Iowa. When the river used to meander, Carter Lake was cut off from the rest of Iowa. Nebraska won the coin toss and the town stayed with Iowa. I kid. i kid. It’s always been an Iowa community.

Anyhoo, checking out the lake on a balmy April morning, I, uh, did I say balmy? Sorry, I meant a frigid April morning (temp was below freezing – 30 degrees).

I did not realize the lake was home a decent-sized flock of pelicans. Thus, out came the camera…
