Tim’s walking challenge: Successful February
The second month is done in my “cross country walk” challenge.
As you may recall, I set a January-February goal of averaging 7 miles per day. That was based on weather not always being cooperative for working out.
My daughter Mallory challenged me to “walk” across the United States – from Los Angeles City Hall to Portland, Maine. That equaled 3085 miles.
Well, I finished February with 486,098 steps. That averaged 17,360 steps per day over the 28-day month. I averaged 8.21 miles per day for a total of 229.94 miles.
So, I have totaled 450.6 miles since January 1st. I have walked 952,578 steps thus far. That’s an average of 7.63 miles per day. So, that tops my goal of 7 miles per day for the first 59 days of the year.
Looking at the map, I finished my February leg just south of Parowan, Utah.
I am setting an aggressive goal of “walking” to Grand Junction, Colorado, by the end of March. It is about 324 miles from Parowan to Grand Junction, according to Googlemaps.com. That means averaging 10.5 miles per day. With warmer weather around the corner, that goal should be able to be met.
Here’s to March. Have a great month. “See ya” in Colorado.
