Happy Hour. Date Night. Dad’s Night (Father’s Day). Any time is a good time to check out CRAVE in Omaha! Some of my blogger girlfriends and I took in a sampling of what CRAVE (courtesy of CRAVE) has to offer recently in Omaha’s Midtown Crossing.
First of all, I love this area of the city. It’s located near 31st and Dodge Streets. It is a great entertainment district with restaurants, retail shops and a movie theater. One of my favorite things is that you can park in a garage for three hours for free. It’s $1 an hour after that (as I was reminded when I exceeded the three hours).
I’ll be honest, I’d only been to CRAVE one time before and it was awhile ago. I remember really liking the ambiance, but not much more. After Monday’s experience, I now have several reasons why I have to get my CRAVE on.
Happy Hour (and other ways to eat at CRAVE for less)
The CRAVE Happy Hour runs Monday thru Saturday from 3-6 pm and 9 pm-close, as well all day Sunday. This means great specials to whet your appetite for more. If you are a sushi fan, Sunday and Monday from 4 pm-close is half price Sushi. Can’t beat that to start off your work week, right? Bring the kids. they eat FREE all day on Sunday with the purchase of an adult entree per child.
Each month, CRAVE features a different non-profit organization to help raise funds and create awareness. They have a special “CRAVE Cares” menu that accompanies that month and partner. For orders off of the menu, CRAVE donates a percentage of those sales to the organization. Even if you don’t order off the special menu, customers can opt to round up their bill to donate to the organization. For the month of June, CRAVE’s partner is Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands. Learn more about CRAVE Cares here.
Gluten Free Menu
I don’t have a gluten allergy but most of us know someone who does. Our daughter does and now I know a great place that offers good gluten-free options. We tried both the Grilled Chicken and Chopped Chicken salads which are both on the gluten free menu. Both of them are very tasty and are entree sized. Not only do they have gluten-free options but also can modify anything to make it vegetarian. As Bria, front house supervisor, stated it’s one of the nice things about having a scratch kitchen. Everything is fresh and made to order, from the sushi and fish to the vegetables. We definitely got a taste of that. Check out the CRAVE gluten free menu (and all of their menus) here.
I saved the best for last. CRAVE has some very CRAVEable food. We got to sample several options from each of the courses, from appetizers and cocktails to wine and desserts. We didn’t have one bite that was not delicious. Let me give you a tasty sampling of their menu through pictures.
Calamari is very lightly breaded and served with a jalapeno aoli.
Kogi Beef Tacos are beef short rib topped with crispy slaw and kimchi. These were very flavorful and a perfect bite to share before the entrees.
The drinks we sampled were colorful, pretty and refreshing to taste. The Angry Dragon has one of my favorite juices, cranberry, in it.
Pineapple Side Car is a sweet refreshing drink. Who doesn’t love a drink with a pretty fruit on the rim?
One of the first entrees I will order when I return to CRAVE (very soon) is the Sauteed Norwegian Salmon. It was so very tasty and I believe a few of us were fighting over the last bite.
The Beef Stroganoff is comprised of braised short rib, a mushroom cream sauce, and a horseradish chive sour cream. This would be another great choice.
We couldn’t end the night without a sweet treat! We were in love with all of the flavors of the dessert sampler. You can order these individually or as the whole sampler for the table. The sampler includes Tres Leches, French Silk, Strawberry Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, Salty Caramel Mousse and Blueberry Cheesecake.
The S’more brownie was a great combination of flavors. It’s accompanied by a smoked sea salt, marshmallow ice cream.
Who’s now craving CRAVE Omaha? We have something special for you. CRAVE has given us a couple of things for our readers.
