Webster House
Webster House in Kansas City offers an upscale dining opportunity at reasonable prices.
Once an old school house, Webster House combines upscale shopping with dining near the Kaufman Center for Performing Arts in downtown KC.
The area offers views of the skyline, including skyscrapers and the World War I Liberty tower.
The restaurant offers an eclectic menu. We had lunch during our recent visit. It is open for lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable for each meal. Lunch ran $10-$15. The dinner menu is about double the prices.
The server offered us a complimentary basket of locally baked pretzel bread. It was soft and warm. The butter had a sea salt flavor. I am not a fan of butter, but I tried it. I liked it. It melted nicely into the bread.
Lisa had a chicken sandwich with smoky Gouda cheese on it. She enjoyed it. The bread Webster House uses a local brand. It was soft and tasty.
I had a grilled meatloaf sandwich. It had a mixture of chopped ham in it. It was delicious. The texture was so soft; it fell apart to the touch. It was nice as a hand-held sandwich. However, my recommendation would be to have it as an open-faced sandwich, topped with the chipotle ketchup mix the cook put on the bread. I described the sandwich to people at work and their mouths started drooling. The sandwiches came with a side of homemade chips.
Following lunch, we checked out the store on the first floor. It offers a variety of items – candles, clothing and room accessories. It is on the pricey end of things, but you know that going in. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is worth checking out. There are a few things I would not mind buying or receiving as gifts.
The interior of the building is perfect for photography opportunities. The shop is a photographer’s dream for still shots. The stairway is decorated with nice views.

I can think of some family members and friends who could probably spend all day at the Webster House. I think it is definitely worth a stop when you are in downtown Kansas City. We’ll be back. I want to try their dinner menu.
