New Best Western Plus in Lincoln

The Best Western hotel chain has returned to Nebraska’s capital city with a freshly opened and well-operated hotel.

The Best Western Plus opened its doors in Lincoln late July. The hotel is located on 27th Street, south of Interstate 80. It’s nicely located minutes from city attractions, while also allowing guests peace and quiet away from the city center.

We were invited to visit the hotel and gauge their service and accommodations. We weren’t disappointed. We could tell by the staff’s interactions with other guests that they are geared to provided strong customer service and ensure guests have a nice, comfortable visit.

The Best Western Plus still has that “new hotel” fresh fragrance as you enter the lobby. The hotel has an open space, which makes checking in convenient. The front desk has two check-in stations. If there is a crowd at check-in, people can always take advantage of the lounge area.

Once guests are checked in, they will be pleased with the style of room or suite they reserved. All rooms/suites come with two queen beds, a single queen or king. The suites feature a sofa in the living area.

We checked out each room type. In viewing each room or suite, we learned that all come with a refrigerator and microwave oven. We appreciated having a fridge in our room, as we had leftovers from dinner.

As we walked through the hotel, we were immediately impressed with the wider hallways and stairs. That helps people with a lot of luggage, or if someone has physical limitations and needs assistance.

We stayed in a king suite. One thing we noticed about each room and suite is that they are decently sized. The “small” rooms are spacious enough for guests to relax in.

The sofa in our suite was quite comfortable. We sat on it while watching some TV. A neat thing about the hotel, too, is that have “clean” TV remotes. The style of treatment used on the remotes allows for easier cleaning and disinfecting.

As I’ve mentioned before, three things that are critical to us when traveling are: good work desk space, WiFi access and plenty of electrical outlets for our devices. The Lincoln Best Western Plus met all three requirements. The work desk was spacious and the chair was comfortable. There were plenty of outlets to plug in camera battery chargers and our cell phones. We didn’t bring an iPod or iPad this time, but if we had, we would have had enough outlets.

We love the modernization of the room key. The hospitality industry has gone from need an actual key to get into a room to a scanner. You just hold your “key card” nest to the pad at the door and the door opens. No more inserting the card or getting frustrated about the card being backwards, etc.

If you’re staying overnight or longer, the Best Western Plus offers some nice amenities. They have a nice swimming pool, fitness center and business center.

The swimming pool looked so inviting during our tour that I was tempted to jump in. The pool has a handicapped accessible lift for people who may need the help. The pool and hot tub are both equipped with lifts.

The fitness center has a few nice pieces of equipment – treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical. It also has a universal weight machine and dumbbells.

The breakfast center is set up well. It offers both cold and hot meal options. Guests can make their own waffles, if they’d like. There are plenty of healthy options, too.

Great breakfast options

The thing that jumped out at me were the eggs. They are fresh eggs. I mentioned to Lisa that the eggs were restaurant –quality. That’s when I was told they were fresh.

The hotel offers meeting space. We checked out a room that was being prepared for a wedding shower. Unfortunately, we didn’t get back to the room once the decorations were completed.

The Best Western Plus is well within 15 minutes of major attractions in Lincoln – The Children’s Zoo, Sunken gardens botanical garden, Haymarket and The Railyard entertainment districts, University of Nebraska and state museums, as well as Memorial Stadium – home of the Cornhuskers for football.

We had a wonderful visit at the Best Western Plus in Lincoln, and we highly recommend people stay here.
