As Seen on TV: Omaha’s eCreamery is a sweet treat in Dundee neighborhood

One of my favorite TV shows is “Shark Tank.” I love seeing the creative ideas come in front of the “Sharks” each week. Some ideas that look like they are shoe-ins for an investment from the “Sharks” don’t walk out with a deal. Omaha’s eCreamery is one of these. “Shark Tank” is an ABC network program where people try to recruit investments from the panel of celebrity investors, including Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Grenier, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary.

The eCreamery crew were asking for an investment of $250,000. The “Sharks” passed on investing in the company. But, eCreamery ended up making this up in revenue within the next three months after the original episode aired. They received great exposure from the show, and still do after any reruns air on ABC or CNBC. Like many of the pitches, they even got personal, which is a big part of what separates them from other ice cream places, and presented each “Shark” their own unique pint.

eCreamery Ice Cream and Gelato is owned by Abby Jordan and Becky App and is located in the historic Dundee neighborhood of Omaha. It’s a great spot on the corner of 50th and Underwood.

I was recently invited to an ice cream social with some of my fellow Omaha bloggers to preview the Summer flavors at eCreamery. Who can pass up ice cream? Not this girl.

We were introduced to what eCreamery is calling the “Summer Fab 5.” They will be available this Summer season from June 1 – Labor Day. They include Berry Cobbler, Maple Blonde Brownie, S’mores, Strawberry Lemonade (gelato), and Rocky Road Revamp.

We were each asked for our favorites and I couldn’t choose just one. Out of 5, I had 3 favorites. The S’mores had great chocolate chip chunks. The maple blonde brownie had chunks of blonde brownie in the creamy ice cream. The last of my 3 favorites of the “Summer Fab 5” was the Strawberry Lemonade sorbet. I could definitely see coming in after a hot day to refresh with this sweet and tart treat. You can get any of these flavors and more in scoops of ice cream, sorbet or gelato at the store.
