Buffalo Wings and Rings tops our favorite sports eateries
Everyone seems to have their favorite sports hangout. For me, I enjoy catching a game or two at our local Buffalo Wings and Rings (BWR). We’ve been fans since it opened a few years ago. In fact, we went to the opening of the restaurant. The next day, I was back for more wings.
The chain, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, started in 1984. It has 59 restaurants located worldwide. Omaha and Lincoln are the locations in Nebraska. Our BWR is located at 127th Marketplace (127th and L streets).
I love their wings (boneless preferably). They have a great selection of sauces – Sweet Thai Chile became our family’s favorite as soon as it came out a couple of years ago. But, Lisa and I also like the Sweet BBQ and Teriyaki. Diners can choose form 13 sauces.
Our favorite appetizer is the chicken and black bean egg rolls. They’re served with Sweet Thai Chile. Yum!
BWR was our number one choice when Nebraska was still in the Big XII and had some games on pay per view. To this day, when the Huskers are on TV, every TV in the restaurant is on the game. That’s one of the reasons we love going there still.
I love the main bank of TVs – six TVs lined up in three rows. Can you imagine a better way to catch the Huskers in action? Or your favorite team? During the NFL season, it has all the games on. There’s an excellent chance you can catch your favorite team’s game from any spot in the restaurant or bar.
I like catching a UNO or North Dakota hockey game there, too. If the game is available on TV, there’s a good chance they can find it for you.
The service is outstanding there. They know us by recognition, if not by name. The owner is great about stopping by and checking on diners and thanking people for visiting.
Sports and great food – namely wings – can’t be beat. So, as the NFL season winds down to the Super Bowl, and college basketball heats up for March Madness, I recommend catching games at BWR. You can also grab their food to go if you have other plans, but need some great food.
