Radisson Blu hotel ‘attached’ to the Mall of America

Radisson Blu
The Radisson Blu hotel located adjacent to the Mall of America.

Staying at the Radisson Blu hotel next to the Mall of America means you actually don’t have to step outside during your stay, unless you want to. The hotel is connected to North America’s largest shopping mall via a skywalk. Between the hotel and the mall, visitors have everything they need for a short vacation.

The hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, is one of the best offered by the Carlson-Rezidor hospitality company. The Blu offers an upscale hotel experience at very reasonable rates. We stayed at the Blu during a conference, but I checked random dates and the hotel offers affordable rates throughout the year.

The first thing I noticed about the Blu was the lobby area. It was unlike any hotel lobby I’ve been in before. The lounge area had a couple of unique looking seats among the more traditional furniture. The seats/lounges were shaped like Hershey’s kisses candy. Very cute.

The hotel’s lobby has a unique design.

The wall along the escalators and stairs had a contemporary art design.

The next floor is home to a restaurant and lounge. However, the social media section interested me. Guests can charge phones and other devices while they work or socialize.

The artwork on the floor was interesting. From contemporary designs to unique photos, the area resembled a museum more than a hotel.

Some of the artwork resembles street art.

The guest rooms were impressive. The bed’s headboard had photos of Minnesota icons or attractions on it. Very nice.

Our guest room was clean and spacious.

The lounging chair was quite comfortable. It made for an easy spot to take a nap.

The lounging chair was perfect to kick back and relax on following a busy day.

Meanwhile, if you’re interested in grabbing a cup of coffee and quick bite, you can visit Caribou Coffee, a few feet from the hotel on the skywalk. The skywalk is open from about 6 a.m. – 11 p.m. daily.

A skywalk connects the hotel to the Mall of America. The entry is open from about 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.

The Blu has a nice fitness center, which I used daily. You can watch TV while working out on a treadmill, elliptical or lifting weights.

The Radisson Blu is an excellent choice when visiting the Mall of America or the Twin Cities area. We recommend the hotel.
