Wine, treats make for fun Omaha Crush festival
Wine. Add some food samples. Maybe a dessert. Oh, how about some craft beer, too? Mix well and you have a fun way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday.
Omaha Crush combined these and some music and craft tents for a fun wine festival at Stinson Park at Omaha’s Aksarben Village.
Almost 25 wineries, importers, breweries and spirits distributors provided samples for visitors. Tickets for the event ran between $60 and $75. People likely got their money’s worth, based on what I saw. People had a great time sampling the wine and food with their friends and family.
This was the event’s sixth year. The name changed from the Riverfront Wine Festival this year, with its move to Stinson.
Lisa sampled a few wines. She leans toward sweeter white wines. She enjoyed the ones she sampled, but didn’t come away with a favorite. They were all good.
Our favorite food sample came from Le Voltaire. We tried a grilled wagyu beef crostini, roasted pepper tomato coulis & green onions.
Dessert options were aplenty. Our favorite was Gigi’s Cupcakes. Lisa tried a white mini cupcake, while I had a pink one. Alotta Brownies was our runner-up with its cherry topped brownie.
We spent about an hour at the festival. It was scheduled to run four hours, so people had the chance to come and go as they pleased.
If you enjoy wine, you’ll have a good time here. It was a fun people-watching experience, as well.
