Fit by 40 – Let the Journey begin
Happy New Year! I will admit that most years – as many of us do – I have made and broken many New Years resolutions.
My husband, Tim, shared on New Years day on this blog about the challenge that he’s accepted from our daughter Mallory. Read more about his challenge here – Walking Challenge Accepted
This time it’s my turn to challenge myself. This year, I’ve decided to take a slightly different approach with the resolution thing. It is just a tiny twist. You see, tomorrow I will be 39. This means that a year from now I will be 40. Now, I am not calling this an old age or a young one. It’s just a number. This time it will be one that I will set this year’s goals by. I want to be “Fit by 40”. This will mostly be around getting healthier by incorporating better eating and exercise habits. There may be some other areas thrown in as well.
To start off, I will share with you where I am starting from. My current weight is 172 lbs. I currently wear size 14 jeans. My goal is to lose about 20 lbs and get back into a size 8 jeans. I was about 10 lbs away from that weight at about this time last year. This time the goal is to get there and to maintain it.
I currently work a second shift office position where there is not much movement throughout the 8 hours. This shift has been challenging in getting regular eating and exercise patterns going again. I want to get into a healthier routine.
To start, I am not using any specific plan. I will research on my own and add new habits, and share where I have succeeded and where I may need more encouragement. I will share this journey on my blog. I will post each Friday about my status on this journey, and my insights along the way. If this is one of your resolutions, let’s encourage each other.
I will set a new fitness goal to meet for myself each week. This week, it will be to start drinking 4-6 8oz glasses of water daily.
